I loved my work as a high school English teacher.
I held space for my students to compose authentic writing, to read texts that felt meaningful to them, to challenge cultural status quos that didn't empower us as a community.
But I was exhausted.
The work of teaching was so important and necessary, but I didn't know how to really integrate my own wellbeing into the work I was doing.
Because my own wellness was the last thing on my to-do list (and usually didn't get any attention until summer break!), I felt exhausted by October, frustrated by November, and stuck by February. Eventually, this led me to feeling totally burnt out, even though I loved my work and still found a lot of meaning in it.
Something had to shift.
Were often told that the answer is to leave teaching or to just "get back to your why." These leave us feeling disempowered, stuck, and overwhelmed. These do NOT have to be the answers.
I have spent years exploring the specific nature of why so many teachers are feeling burnt out and--more importantly--what we can do about it.
Out of this extensive exploration, I have developed The Embodied Wellness Framework.
This framework provides the tools for teachers to actually feel empowered, integrated, balanced, and energized throughout the whole school year (not just in August and September!).
