Build accountability in your writing practice at the free weekly writers’ circle.

Everyone is welcome.

The invitation

What to expect

How many times have you said “I know I need to write that, but I just don’t have the time!” or “I really have always wanted to write [insert idea here], but I don’t know. How do I even get started?” Most of us have been there! But you don’t have to stay there.

This weekly Contemplative Writers’ Circle is an intentional space for writing the thing that you want to write. This circle offers the structure and accountability needed to sustain a consistent writing practice and prompts to invite you into a practice of contemplation. Doing this work alongside each other invites a sense of ease and excitement about creating the thing you want to create. Now is the time!

Participants are invited to bring a meaningful piece of writing or an object that is inspiring their work that week.

In each writers’ circle, you can expect:

  • Guided meditation to invite us to settle into the present moment
  • Loose leaf artisan tea from Tango! Teas
  • Prompts for generating ideas about significant places and spaces in your life
  • Poems, essays, and more to inspire your curiosity
  • Connecting with other writers
  • Time to actually write!
  • Examples of writing techniques that you can use to create more dimension in your writing
  • Opportunities to share parts of your writing or discuss your writing process (optional, of course)
  • To create something new!
Loved it. I really appreciated having an option for me to join with others to slow down and practice mindfulness and rest. It was comforting to my nervous system and body.

Who does this help?

This circle is for you if…

…you know you want to write more often, but find it difficult to make the time to sit down and write, you want to connect with other people who enjoy creating and expressing themselves through writing, and you enjoy prompts to generate ideas for your writing practice.

You don’t need to be a “writer” or have a finished product in mind. This is about noticing, remembering, and telling the truth as you understand it right now. We’ll write into complexity, contradiction, grief, joy, resistance, and possibility.

This space is especially for those who sense that their stories matter, but haven’t always taken the time to deeply reflect on them. We’ll practice writing as a way to honor our lived experience, build clarity, and witness one another with care.

Questions

You might be wondering…

Do I have to be a writer to join?

No. The circle is open to everyone, including people who have never called themselves writers. Enter Peace treats writing as a practice of paying attention rather than a talent you either have or do not have. Sarah Bland’s own line is that everyone is welcome.

Can I join from out of town?

Yes. The Weekly Writers’ Circle meets in person at Thrive Holistic Co-Working Community in Glen Carbon, Illinois, and there is a Zoom option every week.

Do I have to share what I write?

No. Sharing is an invitation, not a requirement. You can take part in the prompts and writing time without reading your work aloud.

What happens in the circle?

Each weekly experience is co-created with all participants, so the shape comes from whoever is in the room. Expect prompts, writing time, and space to talk about the work if you want to. The Enter Peace circle runs Mondays at 7PM.
